Dynamic Tables

Hi,
here is my goal: on a table with 2 cells I want links on the left cell to load an HTML or text file into the right cell. Is this possible? If so, please show me how or post a link. Thanks in advance.

Are you talking about tables or frames?
If it's tables, and you don't want to reload the page you can create iframe on the same page. When user clicks the link, the result is being outputed to the iframe, from where it can be read by javascript and put into layer above second cell. Complicated and ugly 🙂 do you really want to do that?

Yeah, I dont want to reload the page, just display different text files on a table based on what someone clicks.
I tried using frames but I was not able to load them using the php include tag. I can load an HTML or text doc into my table but I cannot load an HTML doc that has frames. It just doesn't work and gives no error, only a blank cell.

The end result that I am trying to get is a menu on the left that loads different text on the right when the item is clicked. The catch is that this needs to go in my table.

Hmm... what was wrong with frames? What was the source of each frame in the frameset?

Well, the page with the frames works. For instance I load the page mainframe.htm and it looks ok with frame1.htm on the left and frame2.htm on the right.
I then use

include("dir/mainframe.htm");
?>
which does display html docs and text docs but it wont display my html doc with the frames in it... just a blank window.

I am still just learning php so I am not sure but possibly there is a command besides include that would work? My book says that include will display any file as simple HTML. I assume simple means no frames?
