writing to a file...

well, I have this code:

$FP = fopen("submission.txt", "w");
fputs($FP, "$creator\n$URL\n\n");
fclose($FP);

I did chmod to submissions.txt with 777, but it still says this:

Warning: fopen("submission.txt", "w") - Permission denied in /home/virtual/site191/fst/var/www/html/sea/add_process.php on line 46

Warning: Supplied argument is not a valid File-Handle resource in /home/virtual/site191/fst/var/www/html/sea/add_process.php on line 47

Warning: Supplied argument is not a valid File-Handle resource in /home/virtual/site191/fst/var/www/html/sea/add_process.php on line 48

can anyone help me out?

did you try chmod'ing the sea directory as well to 777?

You might also want to consider using explicit path to the file.

$FP = fopen("/path/to/file/submission.txt", "w");

And one last thing which I'm sure you already know, submission.txt must already exist on the server.

I did'nt chmod the directory, but I'll try that. obviously, the file was on the server ^_

but what do you mean by giving an explicit path? like fopen("http://novaz3ro.com/sea/sebmissions.txt", "w")

???

more like fopen ("/home/virtual/site191/fst/var/www/html/sea/submission.txt");

or wherever your file resides on the server itself.

hmm... I don't use my actual computer as a server, so how would I find out what the directory is for that?

ah, I tried chmodding the /sea/ directory and I don't get any error(s) anymore. but when I try to view the "submissions.txt" file to see what has been added, nothing is shown, like if it had'nt been added.

do you know what the problem could be?
