Determine Disk Space

Hello PHP developers,

I'd like to determine the disk space (size in octets) that occupy DISTANT files. Is there any PHP function that handles this ? Is it necessary to upload the distant files ?

I'm new in PHP World. Hope someone could help me for my first steps.
