I have PHP 4.2.1, but I can't use: getenv("REMOTER_USER").

I saw my phpinfo, and there is no REMOTE_USER variable.

What should I do?

Are you actually using HTTP Auth on the page?

AFAIK, the remote user/pass vars won't exist unless you are.

If you are using IIS, then sometimes it will register the person who is logged onto that computer under the REMOTE_USER variable. Well, it did with me...
