Display/Edit HTML in Textarea - Problem

Variable $old_news contains text data (containg basic HTML tags). I display it in text area like this

<textarea cols=108 rows=11 name=new_news value=<? echo $old_news; ?>></textarea>

😕 It skips many tags and words when displaying in textarea for editing (and shows totally incorrect output). If I echo the same variable - It shows perfect value.

Pls Pls Pls "Quickly" help me in promptly displaying $old_news (containing text and html tags) in textarea for editing.
