hi,

I am trying to install MyODBC 2.5 on my windows xp. I had to open windows in safe mode and install MyODBC. it has been installed completely but after rebooting my windows, I don't have MyODBC in ODBC maintenance!!! Did I miss something?

thanks piersk for the link but still I have problem. I didn't have any problem on installing but when I open "ODBC Data Source Administrator" on ODBC driver list, I don't have MySQL or MyODBC!!!

Follow the instructions on the link I gave you. It will tell you exactly how to do it...

        the manual said:

        2) Download the MyODBC for Windows driver from the MySQL site. Latest release is myodbc-2_50_19-win95.zip (NT available too, as well as source code). Install it on your Windows machine. You can test the operation with the utilities included with this program.

        3) Create a user or system dsn in your ODBC administrator, located in the control panel. Make up a dsn name, enter your hostname, user name, password, port, etc for you MySQL database configured in step 1.

for step 2, I used this link and it was more complete:
        http://www.mysql.com/doc/en/Installing_MyODBC.html
for step 3, I cannot do it because the mysql drive is not there!!

          1. Add > Scroll down to and double click on MySQL
          2. Windows DSN name: - make up a name - must be unique
MySQL host (name or IP): - host of the computer (localhost will do)
MySQL database name: - name of the db that you want to connect to
User: and Password: - do I need to explain these?

You can leave the other two blank and you dont need to tick any of the boxes.

Click OK and Bob may or may not be your uncle...

when I click on Add button, I don't have MySQL. take a look at the picture of my ODBC drivers.

Oh, I see. Im sorry, i didnt realise what you were saying. The only thing that I suggest you do is reinstall myodbc, cos mine worked first time...

that's ok. i reinstalled it for 3 time 😃 I installed on two other computers with win95. on one of them, it worked fine, but on the other not!! I want to try MyODBC 3.51 and test it.

ok! MyODBC 3.51 worked fine for me 🙂
