Fetch Row Help

How would I fetch a row in an SQL table, then display it in PHP?
Example:

+-------------------+--------------------------------+

Pretend there are many more rows. How would I display ONLY the owner charlie and then in another part of the document, his pets name ben but not any of the other rows? Thanks for your help. 🙂

P.S. without all those underscores, the table appears messed up. 🙁

yeah my bad its fetch_field without the 's'

well the error is gone 🙂 but instead of displaying the contents of the variable, it displays the variable itself: $codename

Heres my code:

$SQL = "SELECT * FROM currentgames WHERE codename = '$gname'";

$result = mysql_query($SQL) or die("Could not store game info in database results.");

$base = mysql_fetch_field($result);

$gamename = $base->gamename;
$codename = $base->codename;

must be something in you echo or print statement.

I thought you only would display owner charlies pet?

Sorry yeah hand is right I did not fully read you question.

I was just using those variables as an example. The variables are actually $codename and $gamename and the row names are also codename and gamename.

So basically I want to show the rows codename and gamename from the table currentgames. (See my actual code above.)

I have a table named currentgames with fields gamename and codename in it.

My PHP code is:

try mysql_fetch_array (or row or assoc) instead of field
