Including Nested pages

I was wondering if there was a way to to include pages, such as menu pages, into nested pages without disrupting the hyperlinks on the menu pages.

Is there a script that can be included to the the of each page??

Example:

I have a site, with all the inluded content, ie menu.php, header.php, footer.php in a folder called "INCLUDE".

the "menu.php" is set up to access pages from the parent folder perspective, and is included in the "index.php" page (ie main page)

At this point everything is working perfectly. Now consider a sub folder called "SUB" which as a page called "whatever.php". This page also includes "menu.php", but now all the hyperlinks are starting from the sub folder "SUB". Is there are way around this???????

PS I am also aware that the newest version of PHP, which hasn't been released yet will be albe to do this.........

I think there's a thing you can put between <head> and </head> to control this, sort of like <base target="_blank" /> to make the links open in a new window by default. I'm not sure exactly what it's called, maybe <base href="../" /> or something like that to make all links relative to a level above the current page?

Thats not what I meant. I'm taking about the PHP command:

<?php
include "top.php";
?>

and how I can stop "top.php" from inheriting the directory srtucture of the file its included in......

Just make sure the links in the included file specify their paths relative to document_root or "/". Then they will not inherit the relative path of the page that they are included in.

Example:
<A HREF="/main.php">Home Page</A>
in the included file will always look for "main.php" in the site's root directory regardless of the path to the page that included the file.
