Getting PHP to plug into Apache?

Hi, im running windows 2000 professional with Apache: 2.0.40 and php: 4.2.2 installed.

Im having problems getting php to plug into apache. I know i have to put this code into the apache's "htppd.conf" file but i can't work out where.

Loadmodule php4_module c:/php/sapi/php4apache.dll
AddType application/x-httpd-php .php .php3 .phtml
AddType application/x-httpd-php-source .phps

I have been told that it goes right at the very bottom, but apache wont start when i do that. If the code is wrong or you know where it should go then please let me know.

You need to get the new php4apache2.dll, if you go to php.net and go to bugs the first page will have a link to the cvs just open that and extract the dll and place it in the sapi directory in your php install directory.

I looked all over php.net and i cant find the php4apache2.dll . Could u possibly give me a link to it?

aslo do u know if those 3 lines of text are typed right and where they go ?

You want to grab the latest stable zip package from the Win32 folder for php 4.2.3-dev and get the file from there - link is:

I've never been able to get it working on w2k using the LoadModual method try this instead...

The only problem with doing it that way is that it is far less secure than the apache module. Also, I dont think you can use the .htaccess-type security when using the CGI version (correct me here if im wrong 🙂 )

True...
.htaccess does work, the htpasswd binary shipped with Apache v2.0.39 doesn't, you need to download the 2.0.4 source and recompile.

Hi, sorry i aint replied sooner, i have been away from the pc 🙂

In the end i just decided to download Apache 1.3.26 because so many people said it cant be done on windows 2k and the people that have done it have mentioned draw backs (as listed above)

I got it all working now anyways 🙂

1 thing i would like to know is that i have heard through the grape vine that php 4.3.0 when released will work with the lastest version of apache on windows 2k?

Id just like to know if this will be possible so i got something to look forward to lol 😛
