image over image with gdlib?

hi there,

i seem to have a little problem:

i have e lot of .jpg images and am supposed to make a php script that will show the company logo on them when someone outside the company sees them. My problem is that, althoug i have good knowdlege of php and some gdlib, i am clueless when it comes to overlap 2 pics. together.

I did a logo in png format (must have transprency i THINK), -- transparent, tried to overlap it and got a bunch of mixed up colours.

Could you please help?

[more to the point, i need to put a png image on a jpg image, then display it in browser.]

I'm using "Netpbm image manipulation tools package" for such kind of manipulations.
I'm sure you can find the functionality you need:

If safe_mode=off you can execute external programs like netpbm.

although a great idea, it is practically impossible, since the server is isp-hosted, and they won't change their settings for me ... and they don't have netpbm
