Getting the current Url

Hi,
It looks a bit like a newbie question, but I can't find it anywhere..
I want to get the url the visitor is currently on, including the "fragment" part of this url, I mean, the anchor, after the "#".
I tried plenty of global environment variables, but none of them gave me this #@|*~" "fragment"!
Can someone help me ?

Err.. I'm not as newbie as that.
To parse a url, you need to get it. right. Now my question is, how to get it ?

try getenv("HTTP_REFERER")

HTTP_REFERER will do the URL they came from not the one they're on...That # part sucks...I checked every global I could think of and couldn't find one that that would grab it. What do you need it for? Is it possible to use another solution?

$url = $_SERVER["PHP_SELF"];
$array = explode("#",$url);
print($array[1]);

I'm sure you know what expode() does; this seems pretty self-explanatory.

try this:

echo $REQUEST_URI;

REQUEST_URI grabs the ?, but not stuff after the #, and

$url = $_SERVER["PHP_SELF"];
$array = explode("#",$url);
print($array[1]);

was a great thought, but PHP_SELF doesn't store the info after the # either...

The following URL has a blurb on how to grab it with javascript, but I normally don't go in for browser-specific functions...It's worth looking at though...

The # and everything after, is not sent to the server. It's only used in the browser. It's associated with a link name (<A NAME="name">). So you can't access it with PHP. The only way would be with JavaScript.
