apache 2 probs

System: Win XP Pro, PHP 4.2.2, Apache 2

Ive just downloaded the new version of apache. The install went fine, and I now have the Apache monitor thing in my systray (much easier than going having to bother to go through start menu every time I update my httpd.conf file 😃)

However, I cant get the server itself to start. I ran the "Test configuration" shortcut and it tells me that the module for PHP cannot be found. Ive tried putting it in two different locations (both in the PHP directory and in the Apache module directory) and correctly pointed httpd.conf to this file, but I get nothing.

Has PHP or Apache released a patch for this, or does anyone know where I can get copy of the file needed?

(Oh, and before anyone suggests it, I have checked both sites...)

"Syntax error on line 173 oc C:/.../httpd.conf
Cannot load C:/.../php4apache.dll into the server: The specified moodule could not be found."

And before everyone shouts out "Make sure of the location", yes it IS there; it's in exactly the same place and it's exactly the same path in httpd.conf that it was for Apache 1.3x and it worked then.

if your using apache 2.x then in httpd.conf u need to change the line

LoadModule php4_module c:/php/sapi/php4apache.dll

LoadModule php4_module c:/php/sapi/php4apache2.dll

(or what ever the path is on your system)

Do I need to rename the .dll file as well or do I download a new file?

If so, where can I find it? I've looked at both apache and php sites but can find nothing about this at either.

the file (php4apache2.dll) should be in the \php\sapi folder - it comes with php

u should get the newer version of the file as there are some problems with the one that comes with the current php release

Tried all four links (the last two were broken btw) and downloaded the .dll fil twice (from the other two links), but still have the same error. I also copied it from the zipped up binary file into the required directory, but Im still getting the error.

Get the lastest stable win32 PHP zip package from PHP Snapshots

I installed Apache 2.0.40 with the php4apache2.dll from this package without any issues and its running fine at the moment.
