Okay guys,
Here goes nothing. I'm hoping someone can help me out with this problem because I've been at this all day and I'm stumped.

I'm relatively new to PHP....I've taken some tutorials...bought a book and read through it and did some simple, useless scripts. The simple, useless scripts all worked on my local server set up. I've got Apache, PHP and MySQL all stuffed onto my Win XP box. Life was good...

Until I tried doing something a bit more complicated. As a matter of fact...anything more complicated. I've tried several scripts that all need to use a config.php file that holds the settings for the MySQL stuff. None of the regular php pages seem to want to talk to the config.php pages. So of course the config pages aren't speaking to the databases. I've checked, rechecked and triple checked the code and it's all there and working...it's just not doing anything. Any thoughts? I'm not even completely sure that the config files are the problem...it could be my permissions from what I read on another site but I've no idea how to change those. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I think you are including config.php with
include("config.php");
Does config.php starts with <? and ends with ?>

Please post the content of config.php and of the one script which includes config.php.

If the include is failing, you should receive an output to the screen telling you that the include failed.
If an include fails, it is commonly to do with CaPS sTatUs, which whilst you can get away with it on Win boxes, you cannot on Unix *nix. so on unix config.php is not the same as Config.php.
Similarly, check your filepaths (windows paths are subtly different to unix paths) and that the path declared is the actual path.

It sounds like you are trying to install some body elses script, so if you could let us know which app it is, we might be able to trouble shoot it. Alternatively, there are often help forums for these apps anyway.

Thanks for the replies guys! The code I was working on was a guestbook with a time cookie to prevent flooding. I had inadvertently changed a setting on the timed cookie. After I visited the page locally the first time...it wasn't planning on letting me in for another 600 minutes as opposed to 60 minutes I had set it for.

I feel like a dolt but I got it working. Thanks for the offered help. I'm sure I'll be back LOL
