vaidating with two tables

I have a question for the board, I am attempting to validate a user entering into a "members-only" section of a website by checking if they have the correct username corresponding with the correct in the first table then validating if they have a credit card type (Visa,MC...etc) on file in the other table. I have read numerous posts and articles on "join" and queries; however, I need advice on what would be the most efficient route to make this work...thx
