Mail problems (unknown recipient for known addresses)

I'm using PHP4.1.1 on Winnt4.0, using MS Exchange for mail server, resolving via DNS. When I try to send mail using the mail() function it works only 80-90% of the time...and NEVER for yahoo or hotmail accounts. I can send to my personal yahoo account from Outlook, but not from mail(). Below is the body of the email I get back...

        The recipient name is not recognized
The MTS-ID of the original message is: c=us;a= ;p=doble;l=NTMAIL0208191606RA0FM3AV
        MSEXCH:IMS:Doble:Blueoval:NTMAIL 0 (000C05A6) Unknown Recipient

Anyone have any ideas? I'm completely stumped. I've played with the header format, bu to no avail Inmy php.ini file, sendmail_from is set to my work email (for testing). This is the only glitch (so far😉 ) in my code.

Some mail server checks if the domain name of the smtp server is identical to mail headers from address -> anti spam mechanism

Try to send a mail with your real FROM mailaddress

mail("[e-mail]", "test subject", "test", "From: [e-mail]");

I tried "[e-mail]", is that what you meant? Either way, it didn't work. I even tried setting the value in php.ini to the same thing as you suggested, but no dice.
