PHP Webmail?

I am looking for a simple MIME php webmail script that I can modify and setup on my server. I am running PHP 4.0.6, and I know about Horde's Webmail 3.0, but it requires PHP 4.1.0, and I do not want to use frames... is there any sort of basic non-frames version of webmail that I can modify to suit my needs? I basically just need a simple code base. Tutorials, and links on this would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I've been using Squirrel Mail for about 18 months and everyone's happy with it. Has some nice plugins as well.
