Display last ## of a table

How would I go about displaying the last 10 records in a table?

EG.

   ID     NAME     VAR1     VAR2

37: 42 aname bla bla
38: 56 aname alb alb
39: 57 aname lab lab
40: 60 bname jsk kjs

and so on and so forth...

the autoindex ID is not always the same, but I want to be able to display just the last 10 reacords in order of the last record to the last record - 10. Some sample code would be EXTREAMLY helpful.

last ten records? Assuming that you increment ID for entries....

SELECT *
FROM table
ORDER BY id DESC
LIMIT 10
