evil flash/actionscript + php

first time posting on this board, but I'm wondering if any of you can help me out!

I've been fiddling with mySQL and PHP for some time now - but I'm still really just learning

I'm in engineering, and our web developer has just been handed a new project. A Flash-based search engine on a database to retrieve and show video and information from a database.

Clearly - the way to go is php, but due to design limitations - we're using flash.

Is there anyone who can get my started on how to get flash/actionscript to talk to php?

I've got a pretty good idea on the search engine (well, it's a straight database lookup on prices, with a tabbed interface)

The problem I've got - is sending the UID of that entry in the database, back through flash (ActionScript) back to the database to complete the lookup, and return all associated information to another window to show the video and price information from the database!

Even better news - I've got a week to get a working model nailed down! I'm inclined to say that it can't be done with the resources available - but on the other hand - if there any london-based developers who are interested in this project - I'd be very interested to hear from you!

Never personally done any php and flash together, but i've done a good bit of both. There is a book out by Friends of ED that is about Flash and PHP.

I would start with passing the variables from actionscript (a ECMAScript, like JavaScript) then receiving them back in though POST requests. Shouldn't be too difficult.

For help from the actionscript side of things you could go to either www.ultrashock.com or to www.were-here.com/forums/index.php. Both of these forums have info on PHP. And both use it to serve up there pages. Ultrashock uses a lot of flash, so if you find it that evil you may want to try were-here first.

it's a start!!! I've played with a few tutorials and have got a good idea of how it all works - now I've just got to start planning how to build it all!
