4.1.2 to 4.2.2 on Win98/PWS: "PHP has encountered an Access Violation..."

I decided to upgrade to 4.2.2 from 4.1.2 on my Win98/PWS testing server.

(Note: PHP has stopped working every time I've upgraded, and it's usually because of a very stupid thing I've done. I'm only posting now 'cause I can't find it.)

Whenever I try to open a PHP page, I get an HTTP 500, and after refreshing a couple of times, I get:

PHP has encountered an Access Violation at 10001364

So, uh, what's wrong? And how can I fix it?

Have you edited the pws-php4cgi.reg file (i think its in the sapi directory)? it should say something like:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\w3svc\parameters\Script Map] ".php"="c:\php\php.exe"

A 500 error means that a CGI script (this does apply cos you are running PHP as a CGI script) hasnt run properly. Check the code as well...

Alternatively, you could just use Apache.
