I am having huge difficulties with the transparent id, for my sessions. I wanted to start using sessions on a site I am adminisering, but the session id does not get inserted automatically.
In the site, there is a frontpage showing 15 newsstories, each of them having links into the full story.
Since the "trans-id" function did not insert the sessid, I just put them in there myself, but I have noticed that sometimes, it comes up double, meaning that php has been inserting them:
/page.php?id=1263&sess_id=ffee9393885862787723845&sess_id=ffee9393885862787723845
This only happens very rarely.
Anyone got any good explanation on why this happens?
I have to break away from cookies as fast as possible, but without a transparent id that I can trust, it seems I have no choice but to continue using cookies 🙁
I have a couple of options left. The most interresting one, is to use "dns tricks", making the session id appear in the domainname like this: http://ffeer9900466482ttr8296.mysite.com/page.php
Has anyone tried this before? Was it alot of hassle?
I'm using php-4.2.2/apache-1.3.26 on a redhat 7.1 system.
