Disallow Directory Listing!

Ok for some reason my host all of a sudden turned on Diretory Listing. How can i prevent my diretories from being listed?

i dont want to insert index.html in every directory i just want to deny access ... how!!??? please!

I don't kno what I am high on, and I also don't know what else you could do about it, except maybe explain to your host the potential security risk they are presenting to people who do not now realize their pants have just been pulled down.

Once they've turned directory listing on, the only way to avoid having people see the list is to put in the index.html (or whatever the directory index is set to).
