antialiasing on linux

undocumented feature to achieve NON-antialiased font with imagettftext() function is to add - [minus] in front of the color variable. while it works well on windows it doesnt work on linux. what did i miss?

look at: -$black

imagettftext ($im, 10, 0, 3, 23, -$black, $x, $xMax);

this -$black results in non-antialiased font on windows php, but on linux it fu*ks everything and letters becomes unreadable.

ideas?

To have TTF fonts display correctly in a true color image there is a
simple patch I made which works great.
