Apache wants to see me DEAD

I installed (on win 98) apache 1.3, php and MySql, locally. Under PWS everything was perfect: php and mysql. BUT, under apache, everything is HELL … in the last 4 hours I’m trying to test a php script and I only get errors. It’s not about php, the script is echo-ing something simple. It’s about APACHE. The error says: [error] [client 127.0.0.1] d:/php/test.php is not executable; ensure interpreted scripts have "#!" first line
[error] [client 127.0.0.1] couldn't spawn child process: d:/php/test.php

If you me to live, please help …

...but if you want to do it hardcore devloper styles you will read the PHP install docs and see you need to edit some files by hand 😉

I DID it ... but no change, or, the only thing that changed was the type of error ... I have php docs and apache docs ... but something went wrong 'cause I couldn't make php work ... now I've download the phpdev and the installation is ok ... now the php is ok too, but this isn't going to make me happy. I want to find out what is the problem. and I will.

Check your other post this has to do with trying to run php in cgi mode.
