PHP vs ASP - MSc Dissertation topic. Please Help!

Hi,

I'm writing a Masters Degree dissertation on "PHP vs ASP from the perspective of a developer", and would be very interested to find out why people move from ASP to PHP, who uses PHP, why they use it, and general thoughts on the matter.

I guess you're probably bored with the obvious, but it would be a great help to use quotations from people. A name, job position and company would help me also.

Since I use to work with ASP I found that running my own server would cost me alot since I had to buy 20+ 3rd part extensions to do many of the functions I wanted. I found PHP and saw that it was free and open source so that I could edit it to my needs. This instantly got me working with it... now to my suprise I found it to be very clean and easy to use aswell as making a large industry of PHP developers.

Now the only problem is that they integrated .NET with PHP :mad:
