Using MS Access with PHP

Hello, i am in the plannnig phase of a new web project. Many of the databases I will have to access are MS Access database's. I am not very familiar with Access database's but its what i have to deal with. Is this possible with PHP. I will have to both querey and update this database, preferably with php. I ran through the php documentation and found some information on using MS SQL Server is this the same as Access? Do i need MS SQL Server to have a MS Access datbase on the web server. Is all this possible using Apache or will I have to use Microsoft IIS. Has any of you attempted this in the past, how did it turn out. Speed is a concern, for me.

Thanks for sending me the article link, i read it and im pretty sure what i have to do, to get this done. I have one question though, does the access database have to reside on the same server as the php scripts. If so how do your scripts know the location of your database. I looked at the code for the db connect and they specify the DSN but how is the location of the DSN found, or do you not need to have a location of a DSN. Im under the impression that this project will have the Access database in one locaiton and the web site / server in another location.

The database (Access .MD😎 does have to be on the same machine as the PHP implementation. I will assume you will be using an ODBC connector to access the database. Then you will just need a valid ODBC implementation and defined connector on the PHP machine. This is a piece of cake on Window$, a little trickier under UNX.

If someone know a remote way to reach Access databases, I'd like to know it.
