stream an mp3

I would like to stream an mp3 in IE 6 on windows, but cant seem to get the headers correct.

Im using

and something happens with the file along the way...if I 'save as' and then play it it works fine

dave - try this, use Rex Swain's HTTP viewer on a link that you KNOW works (like one of Amazon's sound clips or whatever)... that will show you the exact headers.

I took a look at it, but it was one huge file, and I gave up on searching through that...but it looks like most of these are using a .pls file...playlist.

I have a .mp3 file and I need the correct headers for the browser to stream...no matter what application will stream the file.

(by the way, in your original code, you see that you're sending out the exact same headers whether it's IE or not, right?)

Yeah, I know that...I've switched the headers so many times, I didnt really pay attention to what was left in there, by the way, I tried that header print out on the site you gave me...but, maybe I'm stupid, I just cant find a site that is streaming a straight .mp3...I usually find .pls, or ra, or wma. And i think some of the time it would just be a script that outputs something, so I would kind of have to guess too...

yeah, good luck with it... don't forget, also, you're not REALLY streaming unless you're using a streaming server... sounds like you're talking about starting playback on the client side before the file is fully loaded. a small but important distinction ;-)

Youre right..Im not really streaming...I guess the distinction is insteaad of 'save as' or 'save link as', this is where the plugin takes over and starts playing the file
