Best PHP IDE?

Hello. I am really new to PHP and would like to know what is the best IDE or editor to use for PHP.

If you're not willing to pay, I have found .PHP Edit to be the best of all the free editors. On the other hand, if you have some extra $500 laying around, I hear .Dreamweaver MX is the overall best that money can buy though, if you wanna go that route.

Dreamweaver is not a good option for PHP, it's good for a WYSIWYG HTML editor. The new version has some simple php stuff built in but you will still end up entering anything more indepth than a simple db connection by hand. Mostly you will want to stick with text based editors for php like EditPlus, UltraEdit, PHPEdit, etc.

Actually, DMX is quite good. It helps a lot by automating the everyday tasks, and if you don't like to be limited by the simple PHP-mySQL -server model, consider the GPL PHAkt extension (http://www.interakt.ro/)

I use Edit Plus 2.11 and it's pretty cool. You cand download it at www.editplus.com

I use Edit Plus for perl programming. Used use Ultra Edit. But think Edit plus is better.

BTW, does dreamweaver MX has debugger for PHP like PHP eidt?
If not, I think I should go with phpedit.

The only real debugger is the Zend Studio, which plugs in to the remote server. DW doesn't even try to run PHP locally - consider all the things you can't do on a windows / mac machine.

I tried using PHPEdit, but I think it was doing something to Apache cos i kept getting server cannot be found when I was testing my scripts. Im trying AnyEdit atm. So far its pretty good, even tho is only in beta stage (dont get v7a cos it wont run. as i said, its still being tested)

Oh, and dont forget that its open source which means its FREE!!
