to answer your question, yes PHP works wonderfully with oracle. it's really easy to add basic oracle support for PHP, and not much harder to add very advanced support that includes commit/rollback ability, stored procedures & functions access, and anything else you can think of. i develop and maintain about 15 different websites all running PHP with oracle, and in 2+ years we've never had a problem. (as opposed to, for example, JSP with resin or tomcat + oracle, where we've had tons of problems with open cursors, and other hassles)
