Coding....

Right, am fairly new to PHP, but have picked some of it up quite quick and it is sooo cool.

What i am looking for is some help or tutorials on:

Polls and Hit Counters. Without the use of MySQL. I have been told it is possible using flat files/text files.

www.hotscripts.com is just one of many, many sites that offer PHP scripts...

If you're working with flat files, get comfortable with the fopen(), fputs(), fputss(), opendir(), readdir() functions, to name just a few.
