how can i echo the file name from $PHP_SELF ?

this is my first contri here :-)
well i have this URGENT question, i'll be MORE than thankful to whoever tells me how to do this.

well, how can i echo the name of the file, out of the $PHP_SELF ?

for example, suppose that $PHP_SELF = html/links/page1.php

how can i echo the name of the file "page1.php" BUT without the ".php" ?

i mean how can i echo "page1" only? 🙂

i hope i made myself clear about that :-)

echo eregi_replace(".php$","",basename(FILE));

-OR-

echo eregi_replace(".php$","",basename($PHP_SELF));

$file=$me[count($me)];
$filename=substr($file,0,strlen($file)-4);

I'll test this now, but I think that should do it. $filename will be what you want.
