Login problem - mozilla works, but not IE

Hi there,

I have recently moved a PHP / MySQL driven website I have been developing from my linux box on to a live host. Everything seemed to go smoothly apart from one thing. When I access the site using Internet Explorer (so far I have tried 5.0 and 5.5), I am unable to log into the members' section of the site. Instead I receive the following error:

Warning: Unable to jump to row 0 on MySQL result index 2 in [pathdir]/member_login_check.php on line 12

Warning: Unable to jump to row 0 on MySQL result index 2 in [pathdir]/member_login_check.php on line 13

Warning: Unable to jump to row 0 on MySQL result index 2 in [pathdir]/member_login_check.php on line 14

The peculiarity is that when I log in using Mozilla, I have no problem and I am taken to the members' section. Why
should the choice of browser have any effect on a set of processes which are all server-side? Or am I completely wrong about that? All suggestions and help appreciated.

If you're using cookies or headers, there are some problems with IE. Not sure what they are 🙂, but recall some notes in the php manual.
But no idea what it may have in common with mySQL problems.
Neither I have an idea about connection between mysql php function and browser version. 😕

Hmmm. I think you were right. I messed with the session() stuff I had in there - which took me ages to get right and the page seems to behave a little better. Also after doing a little more surfing I have found that sessions and cookies have historically been some issue in IE. This is really unfortunate since now the page doesn't work the way I want it to (and, in fact, the way it has to). I guess I'll start looking for a work around, but in the meantime, does anyone know of a good place I can read about the vagaries of sessions and cookies between the various browsers and how they affect PHP scripts??
