names in mysql table

Hello everybody!

I have a ymsqlsql table:

I would like to make html tables, like this:
<p>name of the person (from person1 field)</p>
<table>all rows with that name in person1 field</table>

<p>name of the another person (again from the person1 field)</p>
<table>all rows with another person's name in person1 field</table>

so.. i would like to make somekind of report. that's why i want every person to give it's own table. how can i do that in php?

select *
from table
order by person1

Run the abve query, and then use some code like this:

$person = "";
$table = "";

// loop through all rows
   if ($person != $row["person1"]) {
      $person = $row["person1"];

  if ($table != "") {
     $table .= "</table>\n";
     print $table;
  }

  print "<p>$person</p>";
  $table = "<table>";
   }

   // build the rest of $table here from the rows.
// end loop

That's the basic pattern for what you want to do. Order you query by the field that you want to use as a header, then check what your current header is against the current row. If they match then just create a new sub row. If then don't match close off your previous record and start a new one. By setting $person to "" you are guaranteed to have the first record not match and thus start a new section of your report.
