PHP and Progress

Hi All

Does anyone know if PHP can be used with a UNIX based database called "Progress".

I have a customer who wants to build an intranet and hook it up to the company's "Progress" database. They only want a subset of the tables. Any advice on how I would connect?

Does anyone think that an extraction of the "Progress" database into a MySQL database would be better?

I manage a small e-commerce development firm (http://www.dolithe.com) and we are using postgres as our database. Let me tell you what I know about postgres and see if it makes sense to you.

Postgres is a slightly more powerful database than mySQL although for some reason seems to be less popular. I has all the functions of most major databases and is open source meaning it is free to implement and use. We are using it in conjunction with java servelets and tomcat to act as a central storage system for our webCatalogue online trading sites. Progress has nothing to do with Postgres.

The PHP manual has nothing about Progress - I don't think it's supported.
