htaccess and php aren't playing well

if a person goes to an unexisting page on a server the htaccess send them to a customized 404 error page. now is there any way to pass the url that the person tried to go to through the htacces and to the 404error.php file for customizing? please lemme know as im about to go insane from this problem. thankers!

Um, well ya tell the htaccess to use a script that contains the 404 info page.. So it basically includes it right there on the spot I believe . So $PHP_SELF would be the page that’s missing. If it forwards the HTTP_FOWARD would tell ya.

how would i go about setting my htaccess to use that script...all my htaccess comtains is:

ErrorDocument 404 /error/index.php

now how do i make that index.php see what page they tried to go to that wasnt there so it would say

sorry, "whatever page they tried to go to" isn't a valid page.

Well try this out.. Make it this

ErrorDocument 404 /error/phpinfo.php

Then add that file and just put <? phpinfo(); ?> in it.

Then look at some fake page that anit there and see what vars store that fake pages name 😉
