Pattern Matching?

Does anyone know of a way to have my results from a search add a bold tag around the varible that I search for?

For example: Search for area code "66044"

Normal Result:

Brent T. Cranberry, OD
1234 Massachusetts, Lawrence, KS 66044
Phone: [phone], Fax: [phone]

Would like it to do this as a result:

Brent T. Cranberry, OD
1234 Massachusetts, Lawrence, KS 66044
Phone: [phone], Fax: [phone]

I am not sure but I am thinking something like a match the 66044 in the results and add bold tags around them. I just have know I do how to do that and none of the search's on php.net or this site is helping me yet.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

If the results are returned via php variables, just do:

$zip=66044;

echo "<b>" . $zip . "</b>";

or

<font><b><? echo $zip;?></b></font>

Seems too easy, but I hope that's what you're looking for.

$result = "66044";

$stringNew = eregi_replace("$result", "<b>$result</b>", $string");

print "$stringNew";

i suppose it would also work with str_replace() - so check the manual.
