I'd rather not use a 3rd party solution, I'd like it customised to my site and how I want it, not static like that, never changing. Plus that won't be branded to my site.
I'll try and give you a better idea of the features I wish to run on the site.
First of all, the profile system with personal galleries, I'm also after a custom forum, one which the names of members are clickable to take a user to the profile of said member. The forum just needs to be pretty simple, with clickable smileys, and bbcodes for things like inserting images and links (e-mail & web).
Then there is also the main gallery, where everyone can post their photos, mainly going to be for night life, clubbing etc.
I'm also wanting to run a couple of voting type competitions, namely babe and bloke of the month, like on the old site thats closing down, and possibly a big brother system, where anyone can vote on who they wish to be kicked off the competition, and at the end of the month it counts the votes, and boots the most voted off the competition.
There's also another little extra. What I was planning on doing is having a business profile section, which basically is a directory of shops bars clubs lesiure centres etc, each will have 1 photo, title and description (templated) and at the bottom a small comments script similiar to those shoutbox things, showing 10 at a time, older ones get pushed down, obviously having a link to view them all in a popup window with nothing else but the comments. This is for people who have been to these places they can make comments on it for people visiting the website.
These all seem simple but I dont know php enough to be able to do them. I should imagine most of the stuff can be re-used for a lot of functions for all of what I mentioned above, posting to and reading from databases and displaying the information etc.
It's not that I am unwilling to give it a go, I just wanna get something online THIS year, and like I said I don't even know where to start programming, never mind actually HOW to program it.
I've done a basic contact form which is basically if submit not pressed display form if pressed show thankx note sent with the mail() function, thats about all I know, that and echo() and how to set and use variables when you use include() into an external file. Thats it! Thats all I know, I need somefink sooooon dammit lol.
