php 4.1 does not support mail() function?

um...yeah, wtf?
it's PHP 4.1, downloaded on July 17 2002 (that's like 1 month ago)
why is it telling me this?

Have a look in your php.ini file. Is your mail function set up? You should set the SMTP server and the address from which to send the mail.

You could always get the latest : http://snaps.php.net/win32/php4-win32-latest.zip for windows

or

http://snaps.php.net/php4-latest.tar.bz2 for *nix

ok i installed the latest and it still says it. mail IS configured. sendmail path is /usr/sbin/sendmail
