well I advice you to change your subject. MySQL query doesn't mean anything special to us. explain the help you need, see ?
anyway for your date pb, you should compare the date field with the current date, you can use the comparison operator for that. if the date is < to the current one, past, otherwise, future.
so something like:
"SELECT * FROM mytable WHERE mydate>='$curdate'"
should work.
note: DON'T FORGET the single quote (') between >= and " because a mysql date is YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS!
