imap_ , mimetypes and hex problems

I have a mail account that uses pop3 and smtp. I've setup imap and all seems to go well....except...i am a bit confused re the imap_ functions and format of text. When i use the imap_fetchstructure and imap_fetchbody functions i can retrieve the body text. And up shows some hex codes...(some specific for language and so on eg. =E5), they are pretty straightforward to preg_replace...BUT her comes the problem...
I get some '= ' at the end of some lines, the dont have anything after them and my guess is they are some sort of word/line seperation thingy, but there isnt any hex code!!! just the '= ' and when selected they have a space after them!!!
And i have allready replaced newline and carraige return! ...
Does anyone have any good suggestions/had similar problems?? 'Caus i'm kinda stuck.

r u trying to fetch multipart messages

generally multipart messages have this problem they contain chars like "="

why don't you send a mail to your self and fetch it using a mail client like outlook express and see the message source from the message properties and study that message , i am sure you will get to know a lot about that.
