need help with html output

i wrote an email programm, and sometimes there a plain emails with http, www or email addresses

is there a command to interpret http and www as a link?

like nl2br that interpret all "<br>" in html

You mean, is there a function that replaces all www.somewhere.com with <a href="http://www.somewhere.com">www.somewhere.com</a>?

No.
But you can use regexps for it. Smth like

$text = preg_replace('#(?:[url]http://[/url])(www.[^\s),]*', '<a href="http://\1">\1</a>', $text);

But you will ever have problems with complicated urls (those with lot of different GET variables), no matter how hard will you work on your RegExps 🙂

For simple, "nice" URLs it's rather simple.

$string=preg_replace("/(http:\/\/(?:www){0}.[^{\s\n]+)/","<a} href=\"\1\">\1</a>",$string);
return $string;
}

it is quick hack too
to make it work with any types of urls more testing is needed
