Where do you add directories to Apache/PHP's Path

Hi,
I'm trying to run a c executable on Linux through a PHP page using $output = <filename>. But the c file needs some other c libraries to run. Does anyone know how to let the process that is executing the c file know about the directories those libraries are in? Is there a PATH setting I can update somewhere? Do I do it in a PHP config file? Or an Apache config file? Thanks for any help you guys come up with,

If an executable can't find function definitions or complains about undefined references, chances are installed a library, but didn't run `ldconfig'. This command should update the library cache and ensure the dynamic linking of libraries recently added can work.

Note that this assumes the library is in a path that is defined in /etc/ld.conf. BTW - you'll probably need root as well.

Hi, thanks for the reply. I'm a newbie to Apache and can't find where to add the path. I don't have an ld.conf file on the box. The error I get in apache's error_log is:

error while loading shared libraries: libmwsgl.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Do you know where I'm supposed to add that directory in? Thanks,
