Offering Webspace with PHP Capability

Hi guys,

I've been meddling with the thought of offering webspace and PHP to my friends on my comp for a while.

But I've got a bugging concern:

How do I allow the PHP scripts to work only in their directory, and not anywhere else?

Anyway to side track a little, I'm using Apache as my webserver. In directories where there are no defined files to look for (e.g index.php or index.html), Apache denies the directory view that I want (i.e listing of all the files in the folder). Any idea how do I go about it?

I suggest going to the apache website and reading the documetation on DIRECTIVES and setting up a public_html directory in each users home directory. ( Look to httpd.conf ).

On another note, if you do not want these users using php to run programs on your machine in the same environment/user as your webserver is run as (Usualy the user nobody) I suggest looking into php.ini and reading the security notes at the top and possibily denying that capability to your users.
