automatically coverting links

hey everyone i was wondering how do i automatically turn something like this:

http://www.yahoo.com

when someone is including a link like that into their journal so that they dont have to include the <a href> tags?

pretty much auto converting it.

i'm running everything off of MySQL

You'd need to search the string and convert the text that looks like a URL to a hyperlink before displaying it to the end-user (though a more efficient model would convert this aspect before storing it in the database).

In order to do this, you will probably need to use a regular expression in combination with a function preg_replace(). See:
