Mysql Extension Error

I installed Apache, Mysql and PHP on my Laptop. Now I got the problem that PHP doesn't work with Mysql. I receive the error

-Cannot load mysql extensions. Check PHP configuration.

What does this mean?? I checked my PHP configuration and Phpinfo() shows "--with mysql" ...

The MySQL extension should come as standard if you have the latest version of PHP (see my announcement in this forum to get the downloads). Try re-installing PHP and see if this helps.

yep...the problem was my php installation...phpinfo() showed no mysql-part ....so installed the whole thing again....and now it works perfectly

I encounter some difficulties reinstalling PHP on my Linux system. (I'm a newbie to Linux so my knowledge isn't that good. Can you perhaps tell me how you did it?

What distro do you use (Red Hat, Debian ....) ?? If red hat, did you install your php with rpms???

I indeed use RedHat 7.3 but which packages should I reinstall? By only choosing php packages dependencies turn out wrong.

just reinstall all php and all the mysql packages...do you work with the GnoRPM on the X-Server? It should ask you if you would like to install all the packages needed to fullfill dependencies.....be sure you install php-mysql!!

I've got it working...after reinstallation some permissionproblems on Mysql server and Localhost name definition...
Now let's have a look and try to find things out further....Thanks for helping (so far?!))
