File upload directory / Linux

When I upload files to my upload directory, the files will have owner 'nobody' and group 'nobody'. Is there anyway I can change this within the php-code?

Related issue is that I (so far, gonna change this) have to have all rights to everybody (chmod 777) to the upload directory in order to have permission to write the file. Any other combination tells me:

but why do you want to change the group owner?
with 'nobody' anyone can have access to the directory

I DON'T want to change the owner, I want to own thefile. But the uploaded files just appear with owner 'nobody'.

Couldnt you just give the group r/w access to the directory and add yourself to the group?

No, unfortunately I cannot add myself to any group. Just a poor, lonesome user...

No admin rights whatsoever.

Let me ask you this.

Are you saying that you have to change permissions on what you are uploading in order for the transfer to be succesful and that you are using a script to handle the ftp transfer?
Are you uploading from your box to the target or is the transfer between 2 remote boxes

I cant help at all with the script Im just getting into PHP (my first language🙂 but I think we can narrow down the permissions problem.

Just CHMOD the folders to 755/777 for RWX permissions..that will fix all of your problems.
