mail ()

All,
The place I am hosting my site doesn't allow mail() commands, I need to find some way of sending a confirmation email to new users of my site, does anyone know how I can do this?
Someone has suggested PHPNuke, but I really have no idea, please help!

how do you know, your provider doesnt allow you to use mail() ?

if in Configuration.PHP Core.sendmail_path you see the path to sendmail prog then you can. Just try to see if setting a new SMTP host changes something...
If it doesn't and you really don't support emails then... hmmmm I will think about it and post later... Never encountered this problem.

ok, i kno this iz "kinda" but not realli off the topic of mail(), but if i were to use this function, let's say to submit wut sum1 types into a form, 'n they press submit 'n it passes the info to the mail(), will it open up Outlook or the default mail program and send it from there like the html way of sending mail, or will it b like sendmail and send it automatically? i kno i would have to find out if my host supports it, but i'm just wondering b4 hand, thanx in advance

sendmail, you don't actually see the mail client open and send the actual email. But if you want to send a HTML formated email I advise you have a close look at php.net on mail function.
