Too late! It's already too complicated! The whole thing (the idea currently occupying 95% of my brain) is a mix of visitor pages (information, services and on-line sales) member pages (member areas, services, etc.) client areas (hotels, shops, businesses etc.) internal (ie:within this country) client areas (advertising to/selling to my clients (ie: the hotels, shops, etc...)).
So, as you can now imagine, the whole plan (and I'm sure 'World Domination' will soon enter into play!) is already slightly excessive.
Still, looking on the positive side, I've identified the major requirement! The whole thing needs to be multi-lingual. In designing for a m-l site from a visitors point of view, that sane structure can be applied to the 'behind the scenes' areas.
So, you suggest to use simple files for translated, static info. Such as? Flat file db's? Data extracted by something like $page_code / $pid or similar?
How about the array thing? Did you follow my train of thought on that?
4 languages = 4 column db/file
Assign $SCR{'0001'} varible to a row
Using numeric language value, assign column to variable
Hopefully, pulls out required word from file.
Am I on the right lines?
Many thanks for replying to my original post. If there's anyone else who'd like to share their thoughts, the more - the merrier!
