dynamic image/link presentation

I am now trying to convert the following html into dynamic php to generate 9 images per page. How can I go about this by reading the images and associated links from a mysql database, using a previous/next link at the bottom. Are there any good articles around on this:

page url and image url are stored in the db?

if yes select your db using the limit syntax pass the next limit pointer through query string and loop on the 9 coming images...

in the page display.php?Next=10

"select * from images limit 10 , 9"

will take data from the row 10 to 19

another question: what if I don't know the total number of images? in the example I used nine, but what if I don't know?

LoL use a "select count(0) from images" query to get images number BUT the only reason you should use this is to finish the images table in case the images are not in a multiple of 9.

actually, I definitely phrased my question wrong....!

What if there are say 11 images in the table, and I want to show the first 9 on the first page and the remaining two on the next page? How to incorporate that so there are nex/prev links at the bottom.

Does that make sense?

use the $Next variable to define first limit param in SQL query and add 9 to define second
then add one for next one and generate the link I almost made in the code 🙂

$Next being a query string param you can use it to cycle on your tuples commonly known as rows :eek:

erggg, I am getting a parse error on line 16 ??? WHA THE FA?

If your link data is always directly derived from your img name, you could use the script i wrote for someone earlier. Just paste it into a page and put the page in the same directory as the images. No database needed. Just add the <a></a> tags around the img tags and maybe skip the JS from the final version (and the onClick handler)

when I remove the LIMIT $Next , 9 from the $query, it runs, (although not correctly).

I'm good on the dbconnct(), it works for a bunch of other stuff.

ok then add ". and ." around $Next and check the case and it shoudl work.

but, what I did notice is that I think we are missing a close bracket somewhere...
