php time out of sync ..

Hi,

Set up ntpdate on my server in New Jersey, to keep the time accurate ..

Typing 'date' in the shell shows the correct time and zone (ie EDT) however, php thinks it's EST - so php shows the time 1 hour behind.

Anyone have an idea why PHP thinks it's not daylight saving time?

Okay - I figured out how to fix the problem.

putenv("TZ=US/Eastern");

Forces PHP to know which timezone it's in and adjust accordingly

It SHOULD be getting the timezone from the server .. maybe I need to recompile it into apache or something ..
