just a database question?????

Hello , I'm very new to this so sorry if I sound dumb.

Is there a way for my admin guy to go onto a database and change pictures and info and save it. without going through all the coding and just changing a pic.

sorry here we go.

tom does not html, or anything

he wants to change is photo and info

he goes to a admins database finds tom's stuff

hits browse or something uploads new photo

and in the info section deletes old info and retypes new info

and saves . presto changeo website is now updated by tom

sounds wierd I know but I'm ready to learn and fast at it .

that's called content management. It ain't weird, companies (tried to) make fortunes on that.
Just develop an admin interface so he can just change his info in nice forms and upload from his favorite browser without having to go through the trouble of learning how to operate SmartFTP or LeechFTP :rolleyes:
It is easy and makes the code more maintenanble if the data is not embeded.

You might want to have a look at SPIP (http://www.uzine.net/rubrique91.html only in french though) of PHPNuke (http://www.phpnuke.org/).

a basic outline:

Create a form that contains all the fields you want to be changeable. Populate them by connecting to your database (see www.php.net online documentation and functions list with search strings mysql or odbc for help with that or repost a detailed question).
Create a php script that verifies the form data (if needed, but you really SHOULD do this; Nothing like writing
"your security is trash';Drop * from yourDB; "in a name field 😉, then opens a connection to your database and updates the information there.
About the file upload: that's not diffcult too, just add a <input type="file"> field to your form and some line php code to process it.

Depending on the amount of information you are thinking about dealing with, it could be just as easy to work with flat-files.
You know, 5 pictures with descriptions don't honestly require a DB. (Why get the FBI involved in a missing cat case.)

Just my thoughts.
